About the beginnings of the world, fairy tales about kings, prophets and rabbis, but also fables
about animals and humorous stories from the town of Chelm

Jewish culture is one of the oldest in the world. Besides the Hebrew part of the Bible
it also has its own fairytale-like stories, legends and fables, which are often shared by thousands
kilometers and thousands of years. In this audiobook we can find a selection of the most famous
texts, drawing from the Torah (the biblical Five Books of Moses), but also narration
from the Talmud and Midrash, as well as the folklore of Sephardic, Ashkenazi, Hashish Jews
house of the Jewish Kocourkov, the small town of Chelm. Each chapter opens with light
from the eight-branched candlestick, commemorating the Hanukkah holiday, the holiday of lights, sla
married in winter, on the 25th day of the month of Kislev of the Jewish calendar. Let's listen to the story
hy filled with great love and goodness, about the forefather Abraham, the leader Moses,
kings David and Solomon, the prophet Elijah, about legendary rabbis, they live
once upon a time in the Holy Land and we will also hear the fables they created. The author of the literary work
Leo Pavlát, director of the Jewish Museum in Prague, selected and retold ancient records
we and the later traditional Jewish literature so that they could understand the texts and be
today's children and adults can also enjoy them. Thanks to him, we can admire not only
immense wisdom that they pass on to us over the centuries, but also humor and wit,
we will find instruction, comfort and strength in them. The recording contains 71 narrations
from the book of the same name. On a recording from 1994 interpreted by Jaroslav Kepka
now follow Arnošt Goldflam and Jan Potměšil in an enthusiastic and at the same time humble
acceptance of the essential messages that the Eight Lights bring us.

Total time 10 hours 24 minutes.
