A superb debut album from 1966! Fifty years after the original release, a new CD/LP reissue of the recordings, which are among the essentials in Hana Hegerová's repertoire, appears. In the replica of the historically first cover (photo by Josef Koudelka, graphic editing by Zdeněk Seydl, sleeve-note by Leo Jehne) you will find twelve songs with the rightful attribute of legendary. The fortunes of this album are indeed varied. Searching for its name is already interesting. The title page was enough with the singer's name. On the back of the cover was written Hana Hegerová Sings. The label on the album then offered a version of Chansona with Hana Hegerová. But what is beyond all doubt is the quality of the songs. The combination of the hit semaphore repertoire, world standards, Jewish ballads, the first famous songs of Petr Hapka or the chanson Mon Dieu in the French original is still very strong today. Sales and critical response was decidedly positive at the time of publication, but communist censors gradually made further reprints impossible. Although the original cover was great, the photographer's departure to the West after August precluded the next use of his image - and this did not happen after 1989 either. Only now is Hana Hegerová's first album in a rigorously reconstructed form. The sound received sensitive studio care. The original cover was appropriately supplemented with a set of texts and period photographs.
