Karel Poláček's humorous novel belongs to the funniest and at the same time the friendliest works of Czech literature. Everyone, not just football fans, will find pleasure in it, because at the center of the story is the funny love story of the main character Eman Habásek, as well as the fate of his boss, Mr. Načeradek, gifted with a branched family.
The author's gentle irony testifies to his fondness for Jewish anecdotes, in which he was said to be an unsurpassed storyteller. In this book, he was able to capture the lively colloquial language of the characters as if we were direct witnesses of conversations, quarrels and bickering between spouses, parents, relatives, as well as fans and visitors to football matches. When reading this novel, Vlastimil Brodský seemed to take over the baton from Karel Poláček and pick up where the author left off in order to multiply the effect of the entire work with his speech. He too presents Poláček's heroes in all their comic situations lovingly, without mockery and condemning irony, with an understanding for human weaknesses and ridiculousness. It is published in an audiobook edition on 3 CDs.
The recording of the famous novel from the audiobook edition will entertain lovers of football, good health and Jewish anecdotes.
