This inhuman place turns people into monsters

The Overlook Mountain Hotel is located in the most charming corner of the state of Colorado and gives the impression of peace, especially in winter. Wendy Torrence wants to not only relax in it, but also to improve her broken family relationships. In contrast, her husband Jack, a bankrupt teacher and a recovering alcoholic, took a job as the facility's off-season caretaker as an opportunity to escape life's misfortunes. Neither of them could have imagined what horrors their five-year-old "enlightened" son Danny will have to face here, to whom dead guests, shooting mobsters or living garden decorations appear in empty rooms. Is pure evil lurking just for them? Maybe, even if their predecessors didn't fare the best in this grim state...

The novel was made into a film in 1980 by director Stanley Kubrick with Jack Nicholson in the lead role.
