In the remote northern part of New York state, in the middle of old-growth forests, lies a flooded town under the dark, motionless surface of the Chilewaukee Dam. A hundred years ago, it was destroyed in the interest of a greater good: so that the millions of people living in the south would have enough water. Or so Manhattan politicians claimed at the time. Local families were forced off their land but did not move far and some did not move at all…
Now the consequences of human arrogance are calling for the floor. An expert tasked with inspecting a dike that has been neglected for decades becomes a witness to mysterious phenomena. As it turns out, the residents of the town did not let themselves be thrown out of their home without a fight and intend to continue in it.
