It is an identification strip for determining total and free chlorine, pH and total alkalinity.
Instructions for use: Immerse the strip in water and remove it immediately. Hold the strip for 15 seconds (do not shake off any remaining water from the strip) and then compare the color of the box for Total Chlorine, Free Chlorine, pH and Total Alkalinity with the color scale on the package label.
Subsequently, according to the measured values, the pH value is adjusted to a range of 6.8 - 7.6 with Cranit pH plus or Cranit pH minus and the chlorine content is adjusted to a value of 0.1 - 0.5 mg/l with Cranit chlorine shock, Cranit Triplex or Cranit Quatro.
pH – an expression of the acidity or alkalinity of water, the optimal pH value of pool water ranges from 6.8 to 7.6
free chlorine – the main carrier of the disinfection effect, eliminates microorganisms, e.g. bacteria and algae, the recommended value of free chlorine is 0.3 - 0.5 mg/l
bound chlorine – part of the total chlorine, e.g. in the form of chloramines, is an undesirable form of chlorine in water, the value of bound chlorine in the swimming pool should be no more than 0.3 mg/l
Bound chlorine = total chlorine - free chlorine
Total alkalinity – represents a sum of basic substances dissolved in water that prevent sudden changes in pH, the optimal value of total alkalinity ranges from 80 to 120 mg/l, it has an effect on the effectiveness of disinfection, on the adjustment of pH values, the formation of various precipitates components from water and corrosion of metal components.
