After the occupation of Poland by the Germans, the Jewish women and girls, the heroines of this book, had to watch as the German occupiers murdered their families and neighbors. They became involuntary witnesses to the destruction of entire communities of the original population. They had nothing left to lose, so - with immeasurable courage, cunning and nerves of steel - they threw their forces into the anti-Nazi resistance. Originally Jewish youth groups became illegal cells of resistance. "Ghetto girls" successfully bribed Gestapo guards, hid revolvers in loaves of bread and jars of marmalade, and helped build underground bunker systems. However, they also successfully flirted with German soldiers, bribing them with wine, whiskey and home cooking, and seducing them with their "Aryan" appearance, only to exterminate them without mercy. They dropped bombs on German trains and blew up supply depots. But they also cared for the sick and taught children. To this day, these heroines of the Second World War are not talked about much, although their merits and sacrifices were immense. The ambition of this publication is to at least partially repay this debt.
