With the current demographic development accompanied by the aging of the population, many older people will find in this book advice and recommendations regarding the appropriate composition of the diet and the simple preparation of meals. The minimum kitchen or kitchenette equipment for a one-person or two-person household is also described, with which high-quality, varied food can be prepared quickly and easily. The book briefly mentions theories and facts about aging, gives a brief overview of basic nutrients and sources where to find them. A moderate increase in protein intake and a simultaneous reduction in the intake of excess empty energy from fats and simple sugars (respecting the decline in basal energy expenditure with age) lead, together with adequate exercise, to maintaining health and vitality into old age. From this basic recommendation of experts, a practical application to everyday life develops.
