All animals are equal, but some are more equal.
When the animals of Lord's Farm overthrow their irresponsible master and take control of the farm, they believe that a new and free life awaits them. Animal Farm, as they rename their home, is organized so that all animal creatures who fulfill the seven commandments are equal. But as time passes, a new elite is formed on the farm, ruled by the pigs Napoleon and Kuliš. The other animals soon discover that they are not all as equal as they imagined, and realize that they are hopelessly trapped in a trap where one form of tyranny is merely replaced by another.
Orwell's brilliant satire is a timeless allegory about the corrupting influence of power and, next to the novel 1984, is the best-known work of the British writer.
