The year is 1646.
Baroque Prague and its inhabitants are hit by a series of cruel murders. The killer chooses his victims very carefully - these are pregnant women just before giving birth. Could the murders be related to an ancient superstition about unborn babies and their blood having magical powers? Or is the motive a desire for revenge and keeping a hideous secret? The young investigator Borek resolutely embarks on the difficult task of catching the killer of women and, with the help of the master executioner, the judge and heard testimonies, gradually uncovers the terrifying background of the murders for the blood of angels...
