World reading for schoolchildren is an edition of richly illustrated, sensitively retold and abridged works of world literature. The main character of the book, the ship's doctor and later captain Lemuel Gulliver, tells about the incredible adventures he experienced with the tiny inhabitants of Lilliput, with the Brobdingnack giants, with the scholars on the flying island of Laputa and finally with the wise horses of the Hvajnimin. In the novel Gulliver's Travels, Jonathan Swift sharply criticizes human society, although "civilized", but full of grievances, wars and greed. He does so with the help of a description of life in countries where everything is turned upside down.
