Schoolchildren in elementary schools already know that our planet is covered by two-thirds of water. Most of these areas are the surface of the world's five oceans. In the largest of them, the Pacific, lies a huge roughly triangular area of ​​about a thousand islands, called Polynesia since the first half of the 19th century. At the northernmost point of this triangle lies a group of volcanic islands, now mostly known by the indigenous name of the largest of them. The American mainland is over three thousand kilometers away from here. We would be hard-pressed to find another place so far from the world's continents. The Hawaiian archipelago is considered the most isolated place on our planet...
