1893: Augustin Rothmayer works as a gravedigger at the famous Vienna Central Cemetery. The grumpy weirdo is at the same time very well-read and self-educated. In his spare time, he writes an Almanac for gravediggers. Inspector Leopold von Herzfeldt, however, deprives him of peace. The young policeman needs an expert in everything related to death. He investigates the brutal murders of Viennese maids. Each of them was mercilessly impaled with a stake. The Undertaker knows that since ancient times, the dead have been kept in their graves in this way so that they do not harm the living. Does a murderer who believes in vampires rule the roost in Vienna?
