The plot of the novel by a well-known writer takes place in wartime London and in various places in Bohemia during the Nazi occupation. Here, the fate of a brave Czechoslovak war pilot from England is tragically intertwined with the fate of the leader of a gangster gang, who uses his resemblance to the aviator, his war injury and determination to fight the Nazis to cover up his sophisticated robberies, accompanied by cold-blooded murders.
