What price must a young Japanese woman pay to live by her own rules?

Mizuki is a stay-at-home mom. She has a handsome, hard-working husband, two adorable children, and a beautiful apartment in Tokyo. At first glance, a perfect life, and yet sometimes she wonders if she would rather throw herself off the balcony than suffer another evening at home hanging her washed underwear on a husband who won't even speak to her. The burdensome routine kills and suffocates the last remnants of the free-spirited, well-traveled woman she once was.

And then one rainy evening she meets the successful restaurateur Kiyoshi and together with him she rediscovers freedom, friendship, her own voice, tastes, smells and the electrifying pulse of her beloved city. Life takes on bright colors again and the fulfillment of old dreams suddenly does not seem impossible. But with each passing day, the ground beneath Mizuki's feet shakes more and more, and it's clear that when the earthquake comes, no stone will be left unturned.
