The book opens with the most well-known and media-watched case – the story of the so-called Spartakiad murderer, Magpie.
What is the victim experiencing, tortured and murdered by a juvenile deviant? What drives a man to murder? How does he behave before, during, after? And what does the investigator think about when he comes to the crime scene and looks death in the face?
In an interview with the author of the book, criminalist Jiří Markovič recalls not only this case, but also many others, the details of which are published here for the very first time.
A tragic event that took place thirty-seven years ago has a special status. Then a young girl was murdered on her way home. She was only seventeen. At that time, the murderer and his investigator were facing each other. Today they were able to shake hands, sit down at the same table and return in their memories to that terrible night. The former murderer and today's successful painter gave "his" investigator a painting, the motif of which is used on the cover of this book. The soul painted its portrait.
