When doctor and pastor Denis Mukwege testified in 2006 about systematic sexual violence against women in eastern Congo, his life was in danger. But even the bloody, barbaric attacks on his home and hospital did not deter him. He continued to inform the whole world about mass rape, which was one of the means of waging war, and about its devastating consequences.
