Adam and Sophie Warner arrive with their three-year-old daughter to spend a long weekend on the coast of the Hood Canal Nature Reserve in Washington state. Three historic cabins right by the water, a perfect place made for family relaxation. And maybe even to revive their slightly cooled marriage. On the very first morning, Adam takes his daughter on a boat to hunt for crabs and oysters, for which the area is famous. But when they are more than a hundred meters from the shore, a scream is heard and they watch helplessly as Sophia is attacked by an unknown stranger right at the cabin and dragged away. They cannot help her in any way, nor can they identify the attacker. Sophie disappears without a trace. The kidnapping had other witnesses. Their neighbor Teresa from the next cabin, who was watching over her two grandchildren, heard the screams and the old man, who was just walking the dog, even saw everything from a distance. But neighbors from the third cabin, Kristen and Connor Moss, know nothing more about the kidnapping than what they've heard on the news, or so they claim. Adam's rescue is an old friend from his youth, local police investigator Lee Husemann, who will do anything to find Sophia, or at least Adam relies on her. While Lee puts together the individual pieces of the confusing puzzle, Adam's paranoia grows and the lives of all the actors unexpectedly intertwine into one disturbing picture in which nothing may be as it seems at first glance. It seems that everyone has something to hide. In front of strangers, but especially in front of those next to whom they go to bed every night.
