Jane Austen's novel takes us to 18th century England. Twelve-year-old Fanny Price leaves her poor home and goes to the Mansfield estate of her wealthy relatives. There she grows up with Sir Thomas Bertram, with his two daughters and son Edmund. She slowly matures and a charming, secure young man from a good family starts courting her. Although her heart is drawn elsewhere, Sir Thomas, whose fortune is based on the suffering of black slaves, advises her to marry Henry Crawford. Will she listen to his advice, or will her life begin to take a completely different direction?
