The leader of London's young thugs, Alex spends most of his time consuming drugs, assaulting defenseless victims and listening to Beethoven's music. However, he is then arrested and forced to undergo a "therapeutic" experiment, which in many ways does not match the cruelty of his hooligan past. However, the abundance of violent scenes is not a self-serving, cheaply provocative element in Burgess' work - it forms a fixed part of the narrative, which is as captivating as it is original. The film version of the work directed by Stanley Kubrick only underlines this cult work.
