The London of 1814 did not cease to be entertained by the scandals of Lord Hawksmoor. Benjamin was a favorite of high society and loved by the poor. A charismatic man who rose to fame as a war hero in the Napoleonic Wars, he was surrounded by the myth that no woman could resist him.
