The short story The Man with the Canadian Lawn belongs to the half-forgotten literary works of the legendary writer and humorist Miloslav Švandrlík. In 1963, it was published as a "sequel novel" on the pages of the Central Bohemian daily Svoboda. The fifty-five sequels were then accompanied by the same number of Neprakt's drawings. In the 1960s, Švandrlík mainly wrote short stories for magazines and wrote only three more extensive works: Bloody Bill and the Viola, The Man with the Canadian Lawn and The Black Barons.
