New York, 1998. Santiago Larrea, a wealthy Argentine diplomat, finds himself in the spotlight at the annual polo party with his wife Lily and their daughter Paloma, a college student and aspiring jewelry designer. Everything seems perfect in the world of the Larres, until a certain woman, whom Santiago knows from his university days, unexpectedly appears at the party and shakes his usual calm. This woman's cryptic remarks awaken Paloma's curiosity about her father's past, about which she knows little.
When the family travels to Buenos Aires for Santiago's appointment as ambassador to the United Nations, Paloma is determined to learn more about his life in the years leading up to the military dictatorship that began in 1976. With the help of local university student Franco, a member of the HIJOS activist group they belong to children of the desaparecidos, or "disappeared", that is, men and women who were forcibly abducted by the state during Argentina's Dirty War, Paloma sets off a chain of events that not only raises doubts about her family and identity, but also threatens her life.
