Panopticon of sinful people (1971) is one of three sets of detective stories by Jiří Marek from the environment of the First Republic of Prague. Collections of cases of the High Police Council Knotek, his successor Council Vacátek and members of the murder party, inspectors Bouš, Brůžek and Mrázek, also captured in the Panopticon of old criminal stories (1968) and the Panopticon of the City of Prague (1979), in which thanks to the author's gentle humor and mastery of language, they come to life the nostalgic world of the then metropolis and its peripheries, as well as a number of distinctive characters, were also made famous by Jiří Sequens and Antonín Moskalyk's film or television series adaptations from the 1960s to the 1980s, cast by a constellation of popular actors of the time, led by Jaroslav Marvan, Josef Bláha, Josef Vinklář , František Filipovský and Jiří Adamíra.
