The book contains seven longer stories by Arthur Conan Doyle. Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson appear in three of them, the remaining four have other heroes and have not yet been published in Czech. All of them are united by the character of the vampire, conceived as a human vampire with special or even supernatural abilities, who tries to subjugate another person, control his will, drain him of energy and strength allowing him to resist. These are charming women-vampires, but also charismatic men. The seven short stories are completed by the eighth short story of contemporary author Bill Crider, "The Case of the Missing Vampire", in which Holmes and Watson meet the author of the famous novel Dracula, Bram Stoker. The book also contains an interesting appendix - an annotated list of all novels, short stories and comics by contemporary authors in which the famous detective Sherlock Holmes meets the equally famous Count Dracula or other vampires. The book was compiled by Robert Eighteen-Bisang, a "vampyrologist" and owner of the most famous collection of vampire books, and Martin H. Greenberg, a man who has given birth to over 2,000 books and received four prestigious Lifetime Achievement Awards in the fields of science fiction, detective fiction and the paranormal horror movies.
