He avoids meeting the young son of his attractive girlfriend, and with feigned sovereignty he tries to forget the fateful woman he lost years ago. She unexpectedly comes back into his life at Christmas, but under dramatic circumstances... and only to bill him for his "carefree driving". In Alexander Stainforth's short story The Christmas Bride, young Elizabeth heeds the treacherous warning of her "best friend" and curses the man of her dreams, the Marquis Andrew, whom she was supposed to marry. However, there is a kind and wise grandmother who lures first her insulted grandson and then his ex-fiancée to a lonely country house! In this way, he prepares the most beautiful Christmas present for both young people: the return of a love that never really left, it just needed help.
