Several experienced police officers and their family members commit suicide or die under mysterious circumstances. Sabina Nemezová, commissioner of the Federal Criminal Office, suspects a connection between the individual cases. He enlists the help of analyst Maarten S. Sneijder, who is currently out of commission. He rejects her and urges her not to burn her fingers. Then Sabina disappears without a trace and Sneijder follows her trail.
