A quiet resort in the mountains
For detective Will Trent and medical examiner Sarah Linton, McAlpine Lodge is the perfect place to spend their honeymoon. The killer is among them
Mercy McAlpine, the resort manager, is found dead. A raging storm has flooded the only access road to the resort complex, so it's clear that the killer must be a local. However, when Will and Sarah start checking in on the McAlpine family and the other guests, they realize that they are all lying. They lie about their past. They lie to their loved ones. They lie even to themselves.

It soon becomes clear that normal rules don't apply at McAlpine Lodge, and Will and Sara will have to be careful at every turn.
