Lions, elephants, zebras, giraffes are mostly well known, even if from the zoo or from the TV screen. What is anhinga, where does a baobab grow, what does a daman look like, and what does a weaver look like? Where could we meet a welwitschie and is the welwitschie an animal or a plant? We probably wouldn't be so sure about that. But we can start with the African alphabet. In it, Václav Chaloupek talks about animals, plants and places known and remarkably unknown, about national parks and, on the contrary, about areas still almost untouched by tourism, and also about rivers that form the real arteries of life in arid Africa. In the book, the author recorded his observations and experiences from the numerous filmmaking trips he undertook over the course of twenty-five years. Taťána Typltová equipped the book with exclusive photos taken during two African expeditions. She managed to capture the uniqueness of moments, valuable also because the charm of the original wild Africa is slowly and perhaps irretrievably disappearing. Many species of animals are endangered, others are threatened with extinction, not only as a result of poaching, but also due to the changing environment.
Travel to a continent with the smell of exoticism. Experience unrepeatable encounters with wild and unbridled Africa.
