Hold to the undoubted phenomenon of our musical history! The original intention to contribute to the celebrations of the autumn seventies of co-founder, lyricist and singer Ladislav Kantor turned into a memory of this year's great losses. Unfortunately, he and the guitarist and composer Ota Petřina, who is fundamentally involved in the C&K Vocal event, have already left without a chance to return. It is impossible to imagine the 1970s and 1980s without this mixed choir, full of great personalities and defined by the extraordinary vocal arrangements, textual content and half-playback presentation accompanied by Petřin's minimally maximal music. Composer and singer Jiří Cerha, that C in the band's name, put together an album box set from the Czech version of Generation (1977), Ballads of Earth (with several English-sung bonuses, 1985), Causy Krysař (1989) and the closely related Helena Arnetová album Everything or Nothing /In No Town (1988). A show of other vocalists (also Luboš Pospíšil, Petra Janů, Zuzana Hanzlová, Ivana Štréblová, Hana Horká, Jiří Malšovský or Jiří Šlupka Svěrák) and musicians (also Pavel Fořt, Vladimír "Guma" Kulhánek, Jan Kubík, Pavel Větrovec, Tolja Kohout, Luboš Andršt, Lubor Šonka or Aleš Charvát) is great. The repertoire, mostly original (mainly Cerha, Petřina, Kantor), but also adapted (Flamengo, Marek Grechuta) is consistently remarkable. Jiří Černý's memorial text in the booklet is very valuable in terms of information and feelings. Kantor's selected song verses perfectly complement the box (graphics by K. Haloun), which should definitely not be missing from the collection of any listener of original music on the edge of genres.
