The best French detective story of 2013, awarded with 20 other literary prizes.
While investigators from the special branch of the Norwegian police, specializing in the problems of reindeer husbandry, Klemet Nango and Nina Nansen play as new partners, the village of Kautokeino prepares for the return of the old shaman's drum. Many of the original drums were destroyed in the past due to the religious struggle against paganism, so the return of the former is eagerly awaited, especially by the Sami minority. Then, when a rare artifact is stolen one frosty night, church officials, Norwegian nationalists, and Lapland separatists are among the suspects. The situation will subsequently be complicated by the gruesome murder of a reindeer herder. Both Klemet and Nina are convinced that the two cases are related, but they must first understand how the current crimes reflect the tragic events of the ancient past, which are told in traditional throat songs called joiks. In addition, a corrupt colleague throws sticks under their feet, and a French geologist with a weakness for girls who are too young and nefarious intentions also goes to the nearby regions.
Interpreters: Igor Bareš, Jana Stryková, Pavel Rímský.
