The story from the author's estate takes place in Vysočina in the last years of World War II.
A young, inexperienced girl from the city comes to the farm to act as a governess to a four-year-old girl and partly replace her sick mother. Here, together with her peers, Eva not only experiences the cruelty of the Gestapo, but also perceives the beauty of the countryside, the purity of nature, well-being and abundance. Love eventually forces her to return to the city, and together with her mother, she will see both the end of the war and the meeting with the man she loves.
