The year is 1943 and fascists are in power in Italy. Elodie, who until now devoted herself only to her beloved music and applied her extraordinary talent as a promising cellist, joins the Italian resistance movement after her father's death. He meets his first great love here, but when the Germans occupy northern Italy, he has to flee his native Verona. She sets out on a pilgrimage that will help her find not only safety, but also a new meaning in life.
