The story and extraordinary story of legionary Vlček from the 10th rifle regiment of the legions and his violent armed march from Ukraine through all of Siberia to Vladivostok. On the order of T.G.Masaryk back across all of Siberia to the Volga to start a new war against the Red Army. In Irkutsk, a year after the end of the World War, he refuses to continue fighting with the "reds" with the others. They will oppose the French generals who, with the leadership of our legions, have ordered another war for foreign interests. He returns to the Republic with the War Cross. As a reward for his services to the country, he will receive the post of journeyman. As a rebel in the legion, he received the war cross only in 1938.
The book shows the true face of forced war as well as the high command's dishonest attempt to use the volunteer army to further fight for foreign interests. The effort is to show the real role of Czech Red Army soldiers. A valuable and probably the most interesting element of the entire narrative is the gradual transformation of an illiterate young man into a self-confident legionnaire, who after all the battles returns home as an aware young man who already knows very well what he fought for and returns as a winner to the new Czechoslovak state, which does not he always values the heroes who shed their blood for him. The book is complemented by a number of valuable period documents and unknown photographs, which perfectly illustrate the true view of the unknown aspects of the life of our legionnaires in this tense and heroic time.
In the appendix, the reader will also find an abbreviated diary of the 10th regiment of legions and a photo gallery of the main actors of the story, including the now forgotten protagonists.
