The story of a rural student whose life is marked by his father's alcoholism is a mirror of the joys and problems of the Czech village of the 1930s.

The idea for this novel was sent to me by a certain reader without signing. Perhaps it was his own story, because he gave it the title - I Sue." He asked me to dedicate it to all those who are tormented by the devil of alcohol. To women who drag their heavy cross alongside drunken men, and to men who enslave terrible vices. I grant the wish this countryman and I attribute the novel to all the unfortunate and suffering people whose lives are poisoned by the curse of alcohol. To men to curb their vice and learn from this simple story, to women to be brave like Meda and carry their cross to the sad Golgotha.
