The book is a celebration of Neem Karoli Baba, one of the most influential spiritual leaders of our time, a divine guru who inspired and guided generations of people, including Ram Dass, Daniel Goleman, and Larry Brilliant.

In 1967, Baba Ram Dass - former Harvard University professor Richard Alpert - went to India to meet the mysterious guru Neem Karoli Baba, known throughout the world as Maharaj Ji. Ram Dass thereby inspired a whole generation of Western idealistic youth to familiarize themselves with Eastern culture and religion.

Maharaj Ji died on September 11, 1973, and at that time several hundred Westerners were already in India. All those who heard the siren calls of the East and followed them to the foothills of the Himalayas love to tell stories from that time.
