One of the students of teacher Lasse Espersen finds a dead body a short distance from the shore during an excursion in the tidal zone. Immediately, however, everything around is enveloped in fog, from which a faceless figure emerges and attacks Lasse. When the teacher wakes up from his stupor, his student is gone. And it is not the first child to go missing in Melum, a provincial town on the west coast of Jutland. A year earlier, a six-year-old girl disappeared and has not yet been found.
The investigation is undertaken by the young Danish investigator Lykke Teitová together with the experienced German policeman Rudi Lehmann, because the corpse was lying right on the border. They can only hope that together they can solve the murder and find the missing boy before it's too late. In the meantime, however, two more murders occur, and only then do the police finally begin to suspect where the wind is blowing from.
The Faceless Man is the first book in the Teitová and Lehmann series.
