Continuation of the very popular humorous novel Pure Joy. Once again we meet the hero named Nat Jessel - he gets married and his happy wandering life as a traveling salesman is an irreversible past. He goes on a business trip once again through the cities and wilderness of Utah, Arizona and Nevada and experiences new adventures, but the pure joys suddenly begin to leave him, even though he is a successful businessman and has a family of his own. He doesn't even avoid dramatic life crises and finally settles in far away Yellowknife, Canada.
He tells about all this with a humorous perspective, when he has been living in a cabin by Clearwater Creek in the Canadian wilderness for a long time and his friend instead of the lioness Eileen became a wolf, accidentally caught in a trap. Nat recalls what he experienced in Canada. He was a gold digger, managed a real estate agency, sold cars, was a guide for tourists in the wilderness... and above all in Canada, he raised his daughter Evelynka, with whom pure joys began to return to him - a little different and more modest than those he had known in his youth, but again more permanent.
