The day after the final scene of Heat, Chris Shiherlis (Val Kilmer) is hiding in Koreatown with Nate (Jon Voight). He's injured, half-conscious, and needs to get out of Los Angeles. He is being pursued by Los Angeles police detective Vincent Hanna (Al Pacino), who killed Shiherlis' partner Neil McCauley (Robert De Niro) a few hours earlier in a shootout under the approach lights at the foot of the Los Angeles airport runway. Hanna is now determined to capture Shiherlis, the last surviving member of McCauley's party, before he disappears from town.
In 1988, seven years earlier, McCauley, Shiherlis, Cerrito and their team of professionals rob the West Coast, Chicago and the US-Mexico border, where they manage to turn over twelve million dollars from a Mexican drug cartel. On the other side of the law is Chicago homicide detective Vincent Hanna - a man who is so loyal to his profession that he has sacrificed his private life for it. Hanna relentlessly pursues the armed and dangerous men who hide in the dark corners of the wild, and in the same year that Neil and his gang arrive in Chicago "for work" she is on the hunt for a violent gang of thieves who have their sights set on private homes and especially their wealthy residents.
Ruthless Duel 2 is as ambitious and expansive a work with the same strong characters as director Michael Mann's 1995 cult film thriller HEAT (released in Czech under the title Ruthless Duel), which won fans all over the world.
