The heroine of the book is the young artist Petra, who painfully balances between the desire for artistic application and the rejection of everything related to her initial life choice. Memories of the study of painting, which significantly shaped her, emerge as sharply cut reliefs. And next to that there is the arduous, joyless presence of the monotonous job of a supermarket cashier, which she has resorted to for pragmatic reasons. The evocative depiction of these two contrasting worlds offers an unusual perspective, which does not only consist in diving into the inner struggle of the novel's protagonist. The crux of the work is an almost detective plot revealing the passion with which it is possible to immerse oneself in art. The author asks important questions about the purity of creation and human relationships. Her story is not a story of escape, but rather a successful confrontation with the boundaries of relationships and self-expression. He describes man as a fragile creature who, in his flight, inevitably bumps into the glass of globalized civilization, his own solitude and destiny. It is perhaps possible to recognize, understand, accept, but not so easily to change.
