The third part of the novel trilogy František Smolík has been separated from his family by the barbed wire of crime for almost ten years. While in Skláře Jarmila has to deal with taking care of her family, which is constantly persecuted by the communists, František is slowly losing hope that he will ever be reunited. However, times are changing and the atmosphere in society is starting to relax. Political prisoners are gradually being released and returning to their homes. But returning to life is full of pitfalls and old grievances cannot be simply forgotten. The impressive narration takes us to the foothill village of Skláře for the last time to follow our heroes.
