Grace Isabel McKenna falls into the arms of a wounded man on the street, and immediately they are both pursued by the person who shot the wounded man. In self-defense, Grace shoots and kills the killer. She is assisted by lawyer Michael Buchanan in dealing with the police and is free after exhaustive questioning. When Grace goes to Scotland to claim the inheritance, Michael goes after her despite her resistance. They soon have to deal with the threat and danger Grace Isabel is exposed to, but also with their growing affection for each other.
