The story of obsession with film Film director and screenwriter Vojtěch Jasný (1925—2019) became famous as the author of one of the legendary works of the Czechoslovak film miracle — the balladic Moravian chronicle The Good Natives (1968). In response to the Soviet occupation, he went into exile and became a cinematic nomad through Western Europe and North America. His filmography includes over fifty titles, most of which were made abroad. The film poet of the home went through a difficult adaptation to a foreign cultural and production environment, which brought a shift from authorial art direction to custom industrial production and expanded his scope to include new areas — television, documentary, theater and teaching at film schools. The book is based on original archival research and works with the concept of interaction between expert study and personal testimony. An integral part of the publication is a comprehensive photographic and filmographic appendix.
