Leonora is twenty-six and writes quite successful detective stories. Even though she lives alone, she's content with her way of life - until the day she receives an unexpected invitation to her ex-girlfriend Clare, whom she hasn't seen in ten years, for a weekend away before her wedding. After much hesitation, Leonora accepts the invitation and finds herself with a handful of other people - with whom she has in common mainly because they all know Clare - in an extravagant glass house somewhere in the English countryside.
