The story of the transformation of a small Tunguska boy into a tribal healer approximates the practices of Siberian shamans.
The author gradually composed the story about Oge during long-term ethnological research in the area of the Siberian Tunguska River. This area was hit by a meteorite in 1908, which after the impact destroyed a large area of taiga where many Tungus clans roamed. The event remained in the memory not only of local residents, but of the entire world. The shamans spoke of the great anger of the god Agdy, who was angry with the nomadic Tungus for their bad life. The witnesses who told about Oge knew him personally. It is said that he used herbs to heal and that snakes helped him in his ceremonies. At that time, shamanism was forbidden, and Oge - like other shamans - healed his namesakes secretly.
