Zdena Frýbová wrote a book about partner crises that end up in marriage counseling or in the courtroom with a passion for the psychology of the characters, the uniqueness of their story and also with a sense of humor that can solve many things in life.
The theme of the marital triangle is popular among writers and readers. Also in Zdena Frýbová's book, the main problem of the heroes are conflicts and disturbances in partner relationships. The initial beginning of marital crises usually goes back to the period when there was boundless comfort between the partners and all clashes and contradictions seemed to be a slight misunderstanding, which will soon dissolve like a fog on a sunny day. But when the marriage of two people begins to be adversely affected by individual psychological dispositions and deformations from childhood, property conditions, professional burdens at work, health problems, alcoholism and drugs, or unexpected tragedies, despite a favorable partnership prognosis, the spouses end up at a psychologist or in court. Zdena Frýbová writes intimately about such cases and surprises with the truth of her unusual observations. She draws her inspiration from a marriage psychologist, with whom she occasionally meets over her novels. Some of the facts about the marital wars of men and women seem devastating to her, but she considers it the biggest mistake when someone takes their marital hell as their life's lot. It is better to step back from the conflict and look at your partner with perspective, an intractable situation will suddenly start to appear comical and humorous.
More than love, social status, property conditions or even just old scars on the soul affect marriage. Five marriage novellas offer a varied palette of partner conflicts. The bohemian poet's love for his wife and alcohol socially destroys the whole family. In the second story, a weak man is a laughing stock to his wife and cannot cope with his minder alone. In the third novella, the marital crisis of two spoiled twenty-year-olds who do not accept that they should support themselves and take care of their children develops. Another heroine is the dazzling Bety, who still has many men around her and does not care about marriage. Her pragmatic partner relationships are always successful for her, but her son has taken from such a life a tendency to psychologically destroy his beloved wives and is about to marry for the fifth time. The last hero of the book is a social boss, he considers his wife and children his property, but the children rebel against him as adults and nothing deters them from family rebellion.
