Celiac disease is not a rare disease. It is assumed that 40-50 thousand people in the Czech Republic suffer from its various forms, most of whom do not even know about their illness. In the Czech Republic, therefore, there are discussions about targeted screening (i.e. searching for asymptomatic patients) and correct diagnosis in order to avoid the complications of undiagnosed celiac disease. Such complications are, for example, bone thinning, anemia, infertility or greater susceptibility to cancer.
